Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd advocates the need to enhance knowledge and skill of its staff and other workers and practitioners in the sewage sector to be effective and efficient in planning, operations and maintenance of its sewerage assets. For this, IWK’s Indah Water Training Centre (IWTC) was established at the Sg. Besi Regional Sewage Treatment Works, Bukit Jalil in February 2006. The training centre is a dedicated location for technical training on sewerage systems that focuses on theory and practical for IWK staff and the wider public (both local and international).

IWK's strategy on developing knowledge, skills and competencies to meet business and industry demands. Hence, its training and development program focuses on capacity building in areas of customer relations, health and safety, fundamentals of sewerage systems to new technology, processes and skills.





Hands-on application training, live demonstration as well as real role-play on simulation could be used to complement and facilitate training and teaching at the Indah Water Training Centre (IWTC). This is made possible by the training centre being located within the Regional Sewage Treatment Works and is equipped with a mock sewerage facility. The mock sewerage facilities allow participants to experience the closest-to-real working situation.
The mock facilities include:

  • Safety harness, gas detectors and breathing apparatus.
  • Sewer lines of various sizes and depth complete with manual and mechanical rodding tools and machines.
  • Septic tank model.
  • Pump stations complete with raw sewage pumps and accessories.
  • Electrical control panel with various components, circuit breakers, float switches and motors for simulation exercises.

In addition to the functional trainings, IWTC is also equipped with classroom space outfitted with appropriate presentation technology for the theory-oriented training. The centre has six air-conditioned training rooms which have a total capacity for training 70-120 people, depending on the training delivery method. Training could be in the mode of classroom, practical, workshop, or seminar. Various modes of training using white board, flip chart, overhead and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) projectors as well as video are available and conducted here.

Basic facilities such as a dining hall and pantry, prayer rooms, toilets and showers, as well as ample FREE car parking space, are available. The training centre is continually exploring opportunities to establish additional facilities to provide comfort, convenience and greater access to its training programs. IWTC is also located nearby Bukit Jalil Light Rail Transport (LRT) station and the National Hockey Stadium.
