Maintenance

 

Most maintenance works at the plants and network of sewerage pipelines are performed by IWK staff. To give opportunity to contractors, IWK has opportunities for the following works:

  • Grass Cutting
  • Network Maintenance
  • Mechanical and Electrical Works
  • Security Services
  • Office Cleaning
  • Rubbish Disposal
  • Sludge Drying Bed Maintenance

Most of these works do not require in depth skills. Most Bumiputera contractors are able to carry out the works well and only requires minimum capital.

Selection of contractor will be conducted by the State Operation Units. Contractors are advised to contact directly with the Operations Unit nearest to them.

 
 

1. Grass Cutting

Scope of Work:

Involves the cutting of grass once very 30 days (30-days cycle) at the listed plants. Contractor is also required to dispose tree branches, leaves and rubbish in the plant compound.

Requirements:

Contractor with own grass cutting equipment and employees, and must be registered with the Ministry of Finance & IWK is required.

Estimated Value of Contract:

Contract is awarded for a period of one year and contract value from RM20,000 to RM200,000. This is dependent on the space area that needs grass cutting and number of plants that need maintenance.

Selection of Contractor:

Selection is conducted by tender on once a year basis by the State Operation Units. Contractor who wish to participate can contact the respective State Opertion Unit.

2. Network Maintenance

Scope of Work:

Repair damaged pipelines.

Requirements:

Contractor is required to register with Procurement Dept. IWK Head Office and possess SPAN Permit/ License Type- D (Pembetungan) and experience in repairing pipelines.

Estimated Value of Contract:

Contract value depends on the extent of the damage to the IWK pipelines. Operation Unit which has complete connection systems experience frequent problems.

Selection of Contractor:

Selection of contractor is conducted at the State Operation Unit by open tender. Contractor can contact the Unit Manager directly to be included in the selection. The selection criteria is dependent on experience, employees' capability, financial standing and equipment.

3. Mechanical and Electrical Works

Scope of Work:

Involves minor repair works on mechanical equipment and electrical such as pumps, aerators, electrical control panel and wiring.

Requirements:

Contractors who are registered with CIDB in Mechanical & Electrical and possess SPAN Permit/ License Type- D (Pembetungan), workshop and skilled employees.

Estimated Value of Contract:

Contract value is substantial for bigger Operations Unit as compared to small Operations Unit.

Selection of Contractor:

List of contractor will be prepared by Operations Unit with Head Office Procurement Dept. The selection criteria is dependent on the competitive price and workshop capability.

4. Security Services

Scope of Work:

Involves security service for Office and Reporting Centre throughout the country.

Requirements:

Company must be registered with the Ministry of Finance and has security experience for at least 3 years.

Estimated Value of Contract:

Depending on the number of security guards required and number of working hours. Contract is awarded for a year.

Selection of Contractor:

Selection is conducted at the State Operations Unit and by tender. Interested companies are advised to meet the Operations Unit Manager nearest to them. Selection criteria is based on tender price and company's capabilities.

5. Office Cleaning

Scope of Work:

Washing and cleaning of office space.

Requirements:

Registered company and own employees.

Estimated Value of Contract:

Depending on office space area.

Selection of Contractor:

Selection is conducted by respective State Operations Unit and based on lowest tender.

6. Rubbish Disposal

Scope of Work:

Cleaning of rubbish disposal area and disposal of rubbish at approved disposal site.

Requirements:

Registered company with own employees and appropriate and approved rubbish disposal vehicle.

Estimated Value of Contract:

Depending on weight of rubbish and number of plants in the contract.

Selection of Contractor:

Selection is conducted at State Operations Unit. Not all Operations Unit require special contractor for this purpose.

7. Sludge Drying Bed Maintenance

Scope of Work:

Cleaning of sludge drying bed by clearing sludge cake and sand. Transporting sludge cake to approved disposal site. Supply and flatten the sand evenly on the drying bed.

Requirements:

Civil contractor who has own employees and lorry. Priority will be given to landscape contractor who needs sludge cake for planting.

Estimated Value of Contract:

Depending on size and number of drying bed that needs maintenance.

Selection of Contractor:

The Procurement Department with the State's Operations Unit conducts selection of contractor.
